Always holds a
very special position in our life. We get so influenced by them that after
sometime ours and our friend’s likes and dislikes starts to get similar!!!
And…
Shankar’s Nanban celebrates friendship.
It is a remake
of Hindi film, Three Idiots.
Nanban did not fail to cast the spell as Three Idiots did two years before.
Except for the
dialogs, there are not many changes from the original.
Vijay…
He is young,
enthusiastic and fits the role undeniably. He is full of energy and it’s a treat
to watch him because he is more human in this film; like you and me. No heroism
and punch dialogs. So… A big thank you for that!
Jeeva…
I mean who can
have that heart to accept the role of a side-kick where he himself is a very
acknowledged and well-accepted actor. That shows his maturity as an actor and
has done a pleasing job. Nobody can be thought in that role, if not him!
Sreekanth…
He could have
been much better. He is a lucky chap because he got to work with big names. He
looks confused and looks lost as an actor. However, looks young.
Satyaraj...
We have seen him as a hero and as a villain. We also know that he is good at comedy. But, here his character is gray with a funny streak. Therefore, we as audience, find it a little difficult to get used to this different looking/speaking Satyaraj. Yet, we desperately wish to appreciate the fact that he is ready to experiment.Comparison with Bomman Irani is inevitable because he had performed so naturally.

He requires a
special mention. He has just rocked. Befits the character and has stolen the
show. He was as entertaining as Chathur in
Three Idiots.
Ileana…
Looks like a
doll. A normal heroin – slim… Beautiful… and dances gracefully. I don’t know
why, but I wish to give a special mention to her dubbing artist.
Music…??
No… Its not
that great, Reminds so many other songs. The movie would have become a flawless
package if the music was up to the mark too. Nalla nanban is somewhat tolerable. So is all is well song.
Coming to the
captain of the ship - Shakar… Thumbs up!
There was
nothing challenging for him. Think about his World-class film making portrayed
in Endhiran and the unforgettable
movies like Mudhalvan… Gentleman… Indian…
Yet, he ensured that people are
entertained and that movie is engrossing. And, he succeeds in it pretty much.
The picturisation of Aska Aska song
requires a special mention. It is shot innovatively. A typical Shankar’s movie
song.
Now comes the
comparison part…
Three Idiots or Nanban??
Well… I would
say Five Point Someone, being an
ardent book-lover. I still feel bad that Chethan Bhagat did not get enough
accolades. Anyways… the movie buff in me says that Nanban has been a decent remake, especially if you recall a
disaster remake of Jab We Met into kanden Kaadhalai. The audience already
knows the story and could even say the scene that would follow. Yet, Nanban managed the pace and I thoroughly
enjoyed.
So…
Go for it.
Enjoy the delicate craft of Shankar. Copying is an art in itself and it is done
flawlessly. And all Vijay lovers (even those who hate it) go for it. Rather,
all of you who value friendship and love friends go for it!!
